Why do we use German shepherds for everything a dog does?

Usually, people pick a dog because of how it looks OR because of their skills. German Shepherds have a knack for hunting. Black Labs have a strong sense of smell. Every dog has a special skill. People breed those dogs for the skills. German Shepards are also pretty loyal to its owner (if trained well).
